1800s the house was a former sporting lodge owned by the Guinness Family
and derives its name from the Earl of Zetland who was a frequent visitor
to the house and Lord Viceroy to Ireland in the 19th Century.
Zetland House combines the charm of the classic country
house with the sophisticated luxury of a modern boutique hotel. Offering
elegant echoes of the past are fine antique furnishings, and fresh flowers
adorning lounges and drawing rooms warmed by the flames from turf fires.
While bedrooms are more contemporarily styled in a minimal sense yet in

to the bay.
Masterminded by owners Mona and John Prendergast, who
trained at the Ritz Hotel Paris, Zetland House’s reputation for

many awards. Zetland House offers the very best in fresh local produce,
fresh lobsters await your selection, oysters are brought from Galway bay
and succulent Connemara lamb from nearby fields, accompanied by herbs
and vegetables grown in Zetland’s own kitchen gardens and freshly
baked breads. All of which are complimented by a varied selection from
Zetland’s imaginative cellar.
Zetland House can arrange a variety of activities from
billiards, tennis and crochet in the house and grounds to fishing at a
privately owned sea trout and salmon fishery, while golfing and horse
riding are also available nearby.
