Owner
Hugo Flinn presented his designers Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddoch with the brief:
"Build me the finest parkland course in Ireland, whatever the cost".
After an outlay of more than $16 million their handiwork was opened to the public
in September 1995. Only a few months later, it had been chosen as the venue for
the 1996 Murphy's Irish Open and it played host to the event again in 1997, 1998
and 1999. Ruddy admitted to having copied some key aspects of Augusta-National
in the layout. The course is only 25 miles from Dublin and is situated in the
beautiful county of Wicklow. The area is particularly beautiful, especially around
the Glen from which the course derives its name. It is an American target course
with some delightful changes in elevation.
Visitors are welcome Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays. If you require a caddy please give advance notice.
